Big Island churches to provide shelter evenings
« on: May 18, 2017, 01:59:57 AM »
A news report I would like to read:

Several Big Isle churches have announced that they will provide a futon and clean bedding for their community's homeless. Evening guests must be out by 7:00 am. —absolutely no belongings left/stored on the premises. The "guests" will clean the area each morning. No reservations, first come first served each evening at 6:00 pm.

Congregants will volunteer one evening a week to assign beddings and monitor each evening

A spokesperson reports: Our facilities are underused. Instead of sending money (tithings) to other countries we have recommitted ourselves to taking care of our own community members. It doesn't speak well of our teachings when we have homeless and hungry neighbors.

Evening guests will not be asked to tithe as most are collecting welfare and therefore should not be giving that money to others until they can afford to do so responsibly.
