VA to support green burials
« on: May 05, 2020, 01:11:49 AM »
A news report I'd like to read.

President Biden assures veterans that they will now have the option of being cremated as an entitlement provided for by the government.

Disabled veterans are presently entitled to a free plot (ostensibly for eternity) in a National Cemetery. Not very green. However, if the veteran wants to be cremated, with ashes disposed of as desired by relatives, the vet must pay for the cremation.

States a Senator from Hawaii, America buries millions more bodies in the ground each year, this burial policy will eventually have to be changed.*

As of 2024 a cremation at Dodo Mortuary, Hilo, HI, with no burial, costs a veteran approximately $1000.00—includes a free urn.

*  Per the World Death Clock approximately 56 million people die each year.
