A headline I'd like to read:
Health care professionals to offer free services to all vets--for life
The nation's health-care professionals, all self-employed doctors, dentists , therapists, counselors, psychologists, and psychiatrists have agreed to reserve one (no fee) appointment session per day for veterans.*
Quotes a spokesperson, it's just not fair for me to charge someone who got damaged while defending me, who enabled and empowered me to do as well as I have. We spend millions teaching teens to kill and protect us, and virtually no money on retraining them to function well as a civilian. Bringing vets along with us is the responsible thing to do.
This policy supports the newly created week-long Discharge Debriefing Clearing Process for all military personnel upon completing their enlistment.
* The Veterans Administration does not offer therapy for vets with anger, integrity, or relationship issues. Per Hilo Hawaii Clinic: "We don't have enough therapists to offer such services." A significant percentage of Hawaii's homeless are veterans.
