Community Support Group Project
« on: December 15, 2006, 05:00:26 PM »
The Community Support Group Project is a proposed series of weekly televised 3-hour meetings to be presented to the Big Isle community by a local TV station. The project is sponsored by Community Communications.

The purpose of the project supports communication mastery, it's about manifesting ones stated intentions.  It's about expanding our ability to create mutually satisfying communications throughout the community. Specifically, television viewers who watch all 24-sessions of any support group will find themselves producing more favorable results in all of their relationships.

The project consists of a series of 10-person support groups—teachers, parolees, parents, teens, couples, musicians, leaders, Hawaiians. The first group to have ten volunteers will be the first group to begin the television series.

Ideally the project will begin with a group of ten volunteer teachers (from the same school) who meet for 3-hours each week for 24-weeks in a row; upon completion another group of ten volunteers (parolees, parents, teens, couples, entertainers, leaders, Hawaiians) will meet for another 24 weeks.

Each support group consists of ten volunteer support group members and ten volunteer assistants from the community who meet for 3-hours every week for 24 weeks. The support groups are facilitated by a Relationship-Leadership Communication-Skills Coach.

The series begins with 10 volunteer teachers (from the same school) who meet for 3-hrs every week for 24 weeks. The 24-week Support Group for Teachers is followed with support groups for parolees, parents, teens, couples, musicians, leaders, Hawaiians.

Community members (the TV viewing audience) may call in during a program and comment on the conversations taking place.

For example: The aim of the Support Group for Parolees is zero recidivism, zero returning to prison, ever; it's based upon research revealing that how we have been communicating with each other and parolees (our collective leadership-communication skills) causes 42% of those paroled to return to prison. Based upon other reality TV shows (Big Brother, Survivor) it's expected that participants will reap the additional benefit of being known and supported by community members for life.
